Do Dogs Have Emotions?
Some people may think that animals are just brainless things, but if you are here, I am pretty sure that you know that animals, especially dogs, are way more intelligent than people think. We animal lovers know this! So the question, do animals have emotions is definitely something we know the answer to. We have all seen our dogs happy, sad, angry, jealous..... As I am writing this, I have four dogs with me: Tiny, my big black Lab mix, Katy, my white Lab mix, Lucy, my pug/wiener dog mix, and Luna, an adorable French Bulldog, who is our neighbor. And let me tell you about all the emotions that are here with us at this moment! My dogs are very social, and are used to other dogs coming to spend the day with us, or longer. They get along with everyone. But now, we have an assortment of emotions going on: Luna apparently is smitten with Tiny! She follows him around, lays with him, licks his face! Tiny just kind of ignores her. I don't think he wants the attention from her, but he has resigned himself to his fate. The only place he can get away from her is up on the bed, where she is too short to jump. Katy loves having Luna visit, because they are wrestling buddies. In the beginning, I would caution Katy to be gentle with the smaller dog. After seeing them wrestle and play, I now say, "Luna! Don't hurt my Lab!" She is a tough little dog! Lucy is jealous of Luna, as they are about the same size, and Lucy wants to be the only cute little dog here! She is not mean to Luna, but I can see the jealousy. And Luna? She loves visiting with her friends, as she is an only dog, and is alone when her folks are not home. So yes, dogs have emotions, but you already knew that!
